The White House rushes to lower expectations as Obama prepares to wing off to the East and do the only thing he knows how to do, read a pretty speech.

But administration officials say the president isn’t likely to bring along tangible concessions on hot-button issues, nor will he return with concrete achievements. Unfinished business — from the shape of U.S. military bases in Okinawa, to a South Korean free-trade agreement, to climate change, trade and currency issues with China — will remain unfinished.

Instead, Mr. Obama will likely rely heavily on oratory and personal popularity to try to boost U.S. influence while maintaining close economic ties to a region that has become the biggest creditor to the U.S.

Translation: “We have absolutely no leverage with the Chinese because we’ve sold them our souls, so we’re sending in our best used car salesman as a last-ditch effort to appease our financial backers.”

Alas, the Chinese know a smooth-talking Dear Leader when they see one.

Prediction: They roll Obama, take his lunch money, and send him home with his tail carefully adjusted.

This is why I read the Wall Street Journal.

WASHINGTON — The Chinese government is ratcheting up its cyberspying operations against the U.S., a congressional advisory panel found, citing an example of a carefully orchestrated campaign against one U.S. company that appears to have been sponsored by Beijing.

The unnamed company was just one of several successfully penetrated by a campaign of cyberespionage, according to the U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission report to be released Thursday. Chinese espionage operations are “straining the U.S. capacity to respond,” the report concludes.

The bipartisan commission, formed by Congress in 2000 to investigate the security implications of growing trade with China, is made up largely of former U.S. government officials in the national security field.

The commission contracted analysts at defense giant Northrop Grumman Corp. to write the report. The analysts wouldn’t name the company described in the case study, describing it only as “a firm involved in high-technology development.”

The report didn’t provide a damage assessment and didn’t say specifically who was behind the attack against the U.S. company. But it said the company’s internal analysis indicated the attack originated in or came through China.

The report concluded the attack was likely supported, if not orchestrated, by the Chinese government, because of the “professional quality” of the operation and the technical nature of the stolen information, which is not easily sold by rival companies or criminal groups. The operation also targeted specific data and processed “extremely large volumes” of stolen information, the report said.

Obama offers millions in Muslim technology fund

The White House Friday highlighted a new multi-million-dollar technology fund for Muslim nations, following a pledge made by President Barack Obama in his landmark speech to the Islamic world.

The White House said the US Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) had issued a call for proposals for the fund, which will provide financing of between 25 and 150 million dollars for selected projects and funds.

The Global Technology and Innovation Fund will “catalyze and facilitate private sector investments” throughout Asia, the Middle East and Africa, the White House said in a statement.

Eligible projects would advance economic opportunity and create jobs in areas like technology, education, telecoms, media, business services and clean technology, the White House said.

Obama cuts off funds to Iran human rights groups

For the past five years, researchers in a modest office overlooking the New Haven green have carefully documented cases of assassination and torture of democracy activists in Iran. With more than $3 million in grants from the US State Department, they have pored over thousands of documents and Persian-language press reports and interviewed scores of witnesses and survivors to build dossiers on those they say are Iran’s most infamous human-rights abusers.

But just as the Iran Human Rights Documentation Center was ramping up to investigate abuses of protesters after this summer’s disputed presidential election, the group received word that – for the first time since it was formed – its federal funding request had been denied.

No Time for the Dalai Lama

In nearly nine months in office, President Obama has found time to meet with Hugo Chavez, Daniel Ortega and Vladimir Putin. But this week he won’t see the Dalai Lama, a peaceful religious leader who has long been a friend to the U.S. and an advocate of human rights for China’s six million Tibetans.

Obama Underwrites Offshore Drilling ….in Brazil.

The U.S. is going to lend billions of dollars to Brazil’s state-owned oil company, Petrobras, to finance exploration of the huge offshore discovery in Brazil’s Tupi oil field in the Santos Basin near Rio de Janeiro. Brazil’s planning minister confirmed that White House National Security Adviser James Jones met this month with Brazilian officials to talk about the loan.

To sell to…China.

Brazil signed an agreement on Thursday to supply China with 100,000 to 160,000 barrels of oil per day at market prices and expects to obtain billions of dollars in Chinese investment to develop its huge oil reserves.

The agreement, which will take effect immediately, was announced at Brazil’s foreign ministry after President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva met with Chinese Vice-President Xi Jinping in the capital city of Brasilia.

The oil will go to State-owned China National Petroleum Corp and to Sinopec. Brazil’s state-run energy company, Petrobras signed a memorandum of understanding to secure long-term financing from the Chinese Development Bank and hopes to receive up to $10 billion from it by May. The funds are to help extract massive, newly found oil reserves deep beneath the ocean floor off Brazil’s southern coast.

Soros Hedge Fund Bought Petrobras Stake Worth $811 Million

Aug. 15 (Bloomberg) — Billionaire investor George Soros bought an $811 million stake in Petroleo Brasileiro SA in the second quarter, making the Brazilian state-controlled oil company his investment fund’s largest holding.

‘Nuff said. Till the follow-up, anyway.

Russia violating treaty, developing missile

Russian Embassy press spokesman Yegeni Khorishko said: “The Russian Federation is acting in full conformity with the provisions of the START treaty.”–Did he pinky swear?

“Clearly, neither we nor Russia would undertake any activities to increase our strategic forces or undermine strategic stability during any short gap there might be in transparency provisions,” he said. –Of course not, don’t be silly !

Russia has been demanding that the United States include missile defenses and conventional prompt-global-strike systems in the new agreement, something the administration so far has refused. –So far? They’ve caved on everything else!

Paula A. DeSutter, the former assistant secretary of state for verification and compliance, who stepped down in January, told Inside the Ring that Russian noncompliance with START continued after 2005.

“The more recent compliance report, when it does go to the Senate and House, will be disturbing in a lot of ways because Russia continues to be in violation of the START treaty,” said Ms. DeSutter, who helped write post-2005 reports.

Okay, I admit it. The first installment was just a set up for this post. So we’ve established that Russia and China hung us out to dry with the Iran sanctions. They are also collaborating with each other militarily and monetarily against US interests..see my earlier posts here and here.
That’s all pretty bad news, and then you combine it with this…  and get the really bad news.

Iran, China Lead the World in Stealing U.S. Military Technology According to Documents Uncovered by Judicial Watch

Washington, DC — October 21, 2009

Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that since the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Iran and China lead the world in stealing sensitive U.S. military equipment and technology according to documents obtained through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) from the Justice Department’s National Security Division. The documents include a report entitled, “Significant Export Control Cases Since September 2001,” which was prepared by the Counter Espionage Section (CES), and includes the charges, investigative agency, defendants and disposition of each case.

According to a Justice Department news release included in the documents released to Judicial Watch: “The illegal exports bound for Iran have involved such items as missile guidance systems, Improvised Explosive Device (IED) components, military aircraft parts, night vision systems and other materials. The illegal exports to China have involved rocket launch data, Space Shuttle technology, missile technology, naval warship data, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle or ‘drone’ technology, thermal imaging systems, military night vision systems and other materials.”
These documents show that Iran and China have concerted efforts to obtain U.S. military technology in violation of our laws,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “The Obama administration needs to maintain vigilance against the illegal efforts of enemies such as Iran to obtain our sensitive technologies.

Yeah, that’ll happen. They better watch out, he’ll sanction them. Or something.

Hahahahahahaha! Had ya there for a second?
Don’t worry, the Cubs didn’t win a pennant, the Panthers didn’t win a Super Bowl, and Obama is still a wimp. Hell has not frozen over.

So earlier this month, the story started out like this:

Dems frustrated with President Obama’s hesitation over new Iran sanctions
By Kevin Bogardus – 10/06/09 02:27 PM ET
Lawmakers grew increasingly frustrated with the Obama administration on Tuesday as a State Department official refused to endorse a new package of sanctions on Iran that is expected to speed through Congress this year.
Steinberg said the administration is pursuing a dual-track strategy of engaging with the Iranians while threatening isolation if Iran does not grant concessions.
Pressed by Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.), he acknowledged the administration has not asked Congress to pass new sanctions. He also said sanctions would be more effective if they were multilateral.
“Sanctions are not only more effective if they are broad-based, but it also takes away the political argument that Iran could make that it is just U.S. hostility,” Steinberg said.
But that could be difficult. Imposing multilateral sanctions through the United Nations would depend on the support of Russia and China, which have been reluctant in the past to take that step.

Hmmm, wonder how that strategy worked out….

China’s Premier Touts Cooperation With Iran, Signals Opposition to New Sanctions
Saturday, October 17, 2009
Beijing – Premier Wen Jiabao said Thursday that China intends to strengthen its cooperation with Iran, an indication Beijing would oppose growing calls in the West for additional sanctions against the Islamic regime for its nuclear program.

Oops. Oh well, there’s still Russia…

Russia’s Putin Criticizes Sanctioning Iran
Sunday, October 18, 2009
Beijing – Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin criticized talk of sanctions against Iran on Wednesday, undermining U.S. efforts to present a united front against Tehran’s nuclear program at a crucial moment.

I hope M’chelle has lots of burn ointment on hand for hubby. What on earth ever happened to the world loving us again once Obama was in charge? Did someone lose the reset button? Is it broken? Or perhaps..

Is Obama pushing the wrong buttons?

It’s a must read, what are you still doing here?

Russia’s Leaders See China as Template for Ruling

United Russia’s leaders even convened a special meeting this month with senior Chinese Communist Party officials to hear firsthand how they wield power.

Russia and China Hold Peace Mission Drills to Show USA Its Place

Russia and China will hold their joint military exercise on July 22-27 on the territories of the two countries. About 3,000 military men, 300 units of military hardware, over 40 planes and helicopters will take part in Peace Mission-2009 drills. –“Peace Mission Drills”. Nice, someone’s been reading their Orwell.

So Russia and China join forces...so as to insure that no rogue superpower ever again will present a danger to lives, to peace and tranquility. With that out of the way, the true enemies of man can be conquered: hunger, disease and poverty. –Yeah, ’cause they’ve been doing such a good job of that for their own people for the last 90 years. Mass murder, forced abortions, grinding poverty, genocide, the gulag…*cough* AKA, “Hope and Change“, baby!

“There is a political motive there too. We want to show it to the USA that Russia has a strategic partner – China – and that Russia will not be following the USA’s directions. Moreover, Russia is ready to demonstrate that it is following a different political course,” the specialist said.

Russia and China are the two superpowers that will maintain balance in a New World Order where the US empire must shrink back within its own borders and withdraw its tentacles that have spread all over the world, much to the righteous anger of the world community.

Karl Marx Predicted Collapse of US Dollar in 1857

The great October fall of the US dollar is turning into an avalanche. On Tuesday, the American currency lost nine kopeks in Russia and reached a new minimum mark this year – 29.5 rubles per dollar. Within six months (April through September) the dollar lost over 10 percent at the world foreign exchange trading, which marked the sharpest decline since 1991. Some experts believe that the American currency is close to collapse, which may lead to a new financial crisis. –See my post “The Perfect Storm” for more details.

Pravda prints the truth…that the US papers won’t. And in other news, Hell has, indeed, frozen over.

The final collapse has come with the election of Barack Obama. His speed in the past three months has been truly impressive. His spending and money printing has been a record setting, not just in America’s short history but in the world. If this keeps up for more then another year, and there is no sign that it will not, America at best will resemble the Wiemar Republic and at worst Zimbabwe.
I can’t top that, so I’ll sign off here.
